Adult Swim - Off The Air
Wow! What an honour to work on an episode of Off The Air. I did all the transitions and created the title sequence for the episode ‘Progress’, which was guest-curated by Charlie Perkins via Blink Industries.
If not painfully obvious, Off The Air was my first big influence as a director/animator/compositor. So to see ‘Graphics by Robert Strange’ in the spot where show creator Dave Hughes’ name usually goes was super surreal. Honestly, it was kinda weird to take all these tricks that I learnt by aping the Off The Air style and apply them back to an episode of Off The Air.
This is a great episode. It’s such a lovely mesh of the feel of the humour and weirdness of Charlie’s pre-pandemic regular comedy night ‘The Paddock’ and the weirdness and humour of Off The Air. I jumped on this at the end of 2020 and what a nice way to end a great year of work.
