Hikaru Utada - 『パクチーの唄』
The Hikaru Utada - 『パクチーの唄 video is a mixed-media portrayal of the circle of life featuring 2D illustration and 3D animation. We follow the journey of a series of caterpillars who transform into butterflies and attempt to escape Earth’s gravity through an array of flying vegetables, with the third generation succeeding where its forebears failed.
The video is essentially a complex visualiser, with a 3D caterpillar and butterfly on a lush illustrated background. The plant in the foreground is based on the silver fern from my native New Zealand.
