MF Bassline

Will Joseph Cook - MF Bassline

I teamed up with Will Joseph Cook to create a live-action visual masterpiece for his sick new track MF Bassline. We wanted to create something that took Will’s image in a new direction and really bonded over our shared love of iconic surreal music videos, Zack Villere, and Prince.

The idea is simply a humorous exploration of masculine sadness via an iconic Speaker Head character. Will wrestles with his emotions while surrounded by luxury in a beautiful house. His partner (played with brilliant comic timing by Kizzy Rain) looks on, unable to permeate the vivid animated basslines and iconic Speaker Head mask that represent Will’s low mood. By the end of the video, we see that it’s not all bad times with an epic dance sequence featuring a motorcycle, several smoke grenades and a Michael Jackson-esque sequin jacket.

Working with Will was a joy- the creative direction was a true collaboration and he brought so many ideas to the party. I was inspired by his taste and enthusiasm for all elements of being a musician from songwriting and production through to performance and presentation. Before we started this video I’d been feeling a little uninspired (lower than a motherfuckin’ bassline, one might say) but diving into the artistic process on this visual really blew out the cobwebs and gave me a renewed sense of energy for creativity and art. To many more!
